Crescent Orange Rolls

1 TBS. yeast

1 TBS. sugar

¼ cup warm water

Mix these together and set aside.

1 cup scalded milk (2 minutes in the microwave)

½ cup butter

½ cup sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp. salt

4 ½ cups flour

Orange Flavoring:

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 of orange rind

1/4 cup butter

Mix yeast mixture together.  Scald the milk.   Put scalded milk in a bowl (warm to touch so won’t kill yeast).  Add melted butter, sugar, beaten eggs and salt.  Add yeast mixture.  Add flour and mix and then knead it.  Let it rise to double in size.

Cut dough in half (or thirds for smaller rolls) and roll 2 circles to about ½ inch thick.

Add Orange filling. (I sprinkle white sugar over it also)

Cut with apizza cutter into 16 triangles.

Roll up each triangle from the large end to the point.

Brush with butter.

Cover and let rise again until double in size. (about 30 more minutes)

Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  (These are also very good as cinnamon rolls just add sugar, cinnamon and nuts and roll up and cook.  Frost with butter cream frosting.)
